Panama City, Panama January 29, 2018: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Asociacion Panamena De Acondicionamiento Y Entrenamientos Funcionales (APAEF) as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Panama.

Nadira Black de Gordon, President of the Panamanian Federation, announced, “We are very honored and happy to join the International Functional Fitness Federation sports family.”

She further commented, “This year we will concentrate on the internal qualifiers to draw the group that will represent us internationally; as well as the physical and technical preparation of the athletes to allow for a good performance in the competitions programmed by the International Functional Fitness Federation”.

The APAEF will be looking to send a contingent of Panamanian athletes to compete at the International Functional Fitness Federation World Championships this fall. The World Championships will be held October 4-6th, 2018 in London, England and feature athletes from around the world. The APAEF is currently holding a series of competitions around Panama to increase awareness and interest in competing in the sport. Black de Gordon also expressed her excitement for the future of the sport and the Federation by saying “We see in the future a massive growth in the practice of this sport discipline, that is expanding to all parts of the world based on the principles in the functionality of the human body with bases and scientific studies that support it, and we are actively participating in the development of this future We also see ourselves proudly representing Panama in international competitions. ”

Gretchen Kittelberger, Head of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We are very excited to welcome the APAEF as our National Federation in Panama. They are very enthusiastic and eager to do great work to represent their country. We look forward to watching them grow and develop the sport in Panama.”
