He went on to explain that, “We will do our best to promote the concept of functional fitness among the citizens of Sri Lanka and enhance both Physical and mental fitness as we move towards creating a healthy Nation and developing competitive functional fitness as a sport.”

The Sri Lanka Federation will be looking to send a contingent of athletes to compete at the International Functional Fitness Federation World Championships this fall. The World Championships will be held October 5-7th, 2018 in London, England and features athletes from around the world. Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “With the new addition of the Federation in Sri Lanka, we continue to grow our presence in Asia. It is always especially rewarding when National Federations join the iF3 from countries not traditionally known to have a strong presence in the sport. This means there is an incredible opportunity for development and growth of the sport in the country, and we look forward to working with the Sri Lanka Federation and witnessing that growth in the coming years.”
